Charles-Joseph Natoire (1700 – 1777)

• Was a French painter in the Rococo manner.
• He was born in Nîmes.
• Natoire's father Florent Natoire, a sculptor, gave him his fundamental training in drawing, 
• He was a pupil of François Lemoyne.
• In December 1725 he won a first prize from the Accademia di San Luca with a Moses Returning from Sinai. 
• He was a director of the French Academy in Rome, 1751–1775.
• He died in Castel Gandolfo, a town located 25 kilometres southeast of Rome.
