Claes Molenaer, c. (1626-1676)

• Was a North Netherlandish painter.
• One of the youngest sons of tailor Jan Mienssen Molenaer and his second wife Grietgen Adriaens: they would get 8 children.
• Brother of Jan Miense Molenaer, who was married to Judith Leyster, and Bartholomeus Molenaer.
• His brother Jan Miense also named him in his testament of 28 September 1668 executor of his will and guardian of his minor son Constantijn.
• In 1675 he became guardian of the children of the miller Hendrick Gillisz Besem and Maritie Jansdr., who belonged to the family of his wife.
