Sebastián Martínez Domedel, c. (1615-1667)
• Was a Spanish baroque painter.
• He was Son of Bartolomé Díaz Domedel and María Domedel.
• The first documentary news is from 1636, the year in which he married Catalina de Orozco.
• The couple had a son, Diego, who followed the religious life, and adopted a seven-year-old girl, a native of Bailén, Juana de la Peña, who on the death of Catalina de Orozco became a sentimental companion of the painter and mother of five other children.
• His works are preserved, in the workshop of Juan Luis Zambrano, supposed disciple of Pablo de Céspedes, or with Antonio del Castillo.
• The first documented trip of the painter, commissioned by the cathedral chapter, is already from 1661.
• He had the reason to visit the royal collections of El Escorial to copy a painting of the painter's choice for the altarpiece of the Holy Face.
