Michael Václav Halbax (1661-1711)
• Was an Austrian and Czech Baroque painter.
• Michael Václav Halbax was born in Ebenfurth.
• He studied painting in the workshop of the important Venetian master Johann Carlo Lotti.
• He lived in Prague in two periods of his life.
• He settled here for the first time in 1686 - 1694, and returned in 1700 - 1709.
• Halbax, Liška and P. J. Brandl are listed as teachers of one of the greatest Czech Baroque painters, Václav Vavřinec Reiner.
• Halbax was also the stepfather of the Brno painter Ignác Eckstein.
• Halbax moved permanently to Linz, Austria in 1709.
• He died in the monastery of St. Florian near Linz.
