João Francisco Muzzi (18th century)

• Was an Italian-Brazilian painter, set designer and illustrator.
• He began his career as a set designer of the Opera House.
• He was possibly a student of José de Oliveira Rosa.
• Then he worked at the Teatro de Manuel Luís.
• In 1789, he executed the paintings on the Fire and Rebuilding of the Labor Collection, today at the Castro Maya Museums in Rio de Janeiro.
• Possibly are his some of the illustrations of the work Botanical Map for use by Ilmo. Exmo. Mr. Luiz de Vasconcelos e Souza, viceroy of the State of Brazil (c. 1790), preserved in the National Library.
