Matthäus Gundelach, ca. (1566–1653-4)

• Was a German painter and draughtsman.

• Born about 1566 in Hesse.

• Gundelach came from the Gundelach family in Großalmerode, Werra-Meißner-Kreis.

• In 1593 he came to Prague.

• Between 1609 and 1612 he worked as a chamber painter to Rudolf II in Prague Castle.

• After the death of Rudolf II, Gundelach worked in Bohemia in the service of the Fürstenberg family.

• Matthäus Gundelach was married to Regina Gundelach, née Gretzinger, widowed Heintz. Joseph Heintz the Elder.

• He had been living in Venice since 1625 at the latest.

• Matthäuss Gundelach died in 1653 in Augsburg.
