• Was a North Netherlandish painter.
• He was born in Leiden, the son of Jacques de Claeuw.
• Earliest dated work probably the 1677 dated painting in Brussels.
• He became a member of the Ghent Guild of St. Luke in 1687.
• De Gryff became a member of the Antwerp guild in 1700.
• He married in Antwerp to Anna Francisca Marcus and afterward moved to Brussels, where he lived and worked until he died.
• Last dated work 1722 in Tournai, Musée des Beaux-Arts.
