Elias Hauptner (1571-1627)
• Was a Bohemian-Moravian painter.
• Also known as Haubtner, Haupner, Heipner.
• He came from Šenov u Nového Jičína.
• Which was also most likely reflected in the form of his signature - E.H.V.S.
• He received his first training in the painting studio of Melchior Koch in Nový Jičín.
• He moved to Opava, where he continued his training and managed to get close to the local aristocratic circles.
• He thus became acquainted with the regional governor of Opava, Albrecht Sedlnick from Choltice, whose service he was to enter.
• In Opava, on May 12, 1602, in the church of St. Jirií he married Katerina Karasa.
• In 1607 he moved to the Moravian metropolis of Olomouc.
• He married for the second time in the city and by 1616 had apparently bought and sold several houses speculatively.
• In 1622, he is mentioned as a painter in the function of the sworn painter-goldsmith's guild.
• He died in Olomouc at the beginning of 1627.
• On February 25 of the same year, his estate was inventoried, which was relatively rich compared to the local painters and included, in addition to a number of silver, pewter and brass objects, canvas, clothes and other household furnishings.
