Leandro Joaquim (ca.1738 - idem ca.1798)
• Was a Brazilian painter.
• Leandro Joaquim was born in Rio de Janeiro.
• He was a student of the painter João de Sousa in Rio de Janeiro.
• He works with the sculptor Mestre Valentim in urban drawings and projects.
• He is considered by the scholar Teixeira Leite as one of the best painters of the Fluminense School, both in technique and style.
• The artist is awarded six ovals panels executed at the end of the eighteenth century to appear in one of the pavilions of the Public Promenade of Rio de Janeiro.
• His own are the portraits of Viceroy Luís de Vasconcelos e Sousa, the Count of Rezende and Captain General Gregory Francisco de Miranda, who are currently part of the collection of The National Historical Museum - MHN.
• His paintings impress by the colorful and are among the first landscapes, marine sands and city views made in the country by Brazilians.
