Joos van der Beke van Cleve ( c. 1485 – 1540/1541) 

• Was a Netherlandish painter.
• He was active in Antwerp around 1511 to 1540. 
• He was the father of Cornelis van Cleve who also became a painter.
• He ran a large workshop, with at least five pupils and other assistants.
• He was collaborating with Joachim Patinir.
• The great majority of his work is religious subjects or portraits. 
• The displayed painting is a crop from: The Infants Christ and Saint John the Baptist Embracing, 1520-25.
