Grégoire Guérard (active between 1512 and 1538)

• Was a Dutch painter active in France.
• He is sometimes referred to as the "Master of the Autun Triptych".
• He was born in Breda or Utrecht,
• Grégoire Guérard probably stayed in Italy around 1515-1518.
• On his return from Rome, Grégoire Guérard settled in Tournus, where he is attested in 1518.
• His presence is documented in 1522 in Chalon-sur-Saône.
• In the 1530s, the painter distinguished himself in the production of small paintings and triptych.
• Grégoire Guérard returned to Troyes in 1531, perhaps after the death of the painter Nicolas Cordonnier, who was then receiving most of the great Trojan commissions.
•The artist is no longer documented after 1538.
• His son André may have taken over his studio and was active until the 1560s.
