Jacob van Hulsdonck (1582 – 1647)

• Was a Flemish painter.
• Jacob van Hulsdonck was born in Antwerp in 1582.
• Hulsdonck was a still life painter of banquet style pieces, fruit bowls and flowers.
• In 1608 he is documented by the record of his admission as a master of the Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke.
• Roughly 100 paintings are currently attributed to him.
• In 1609 he married Maria la Hoes and moved into the house that remained his residence for the rest of his life.
• The couple had seven children.
• Jacob van Hulsdonck was the teacher of his son Gillis.
• The Displayed painting is a crop from: Still Life with Lemons, Oranges, and a Pomegranate, c. 1620-40.
