He was born in Milan and was the son of the Cremonian Mannerist painter Panfilo Nuvolone.
• After working with his father, he studied with Giovanni Battista Crespi at the Accademia Ambrosiana in Milan.
• In that study he coincided with Daniele Crespi and Giulio Cesare Procaccini .
• In his maturity he achieved an atmospheric softness that reveals his probable knowledge of Murillo's work.
