Pieter Gerardus van Os (1776 – 1839)
• Was a Dutch painter and engraver.
• Van Os was born in The Hague the son of Jan van Os. • Around 1805 he began to devote himself to producing landscape paintings filled with his favourite subject of cattle.
• Os was still strongly influenced by the 17th-century Dutch masters.
• His son Pieter Frederik van Os became a painter and teacher who taught Anton Mauve among others.
