Paolo Piazza (1557-1621)

• Called Fra Cosmo da Castelfranco was an Italian painter.
• Born in Castelfranco in the Veneto.
• Active in Rome, Germany and Bohemia, Prague.
• He is said to have studied under Palma the Younger.
• Piazza traveled to Bohemia to work under Rudolf II.
• He was also working for Pope Paul V.
• When he returned to Venice he worked for the Doge Antonio Priuli.
• He died in Venice and was buried at the Church of il Redentore.
