Paolo Veronesse (1528-1588)
• He was born Paolo Caliari but known as Paolo Veronesse.
• Was an Italian Renaissance painter based in Venice.
• Veronese took his usual name from his birthplace of Verona.
• By 1541, Veronese was apprenticed with Antonio Badile.
• Among his pupils were his contemporary Giovanni Battista Zelotti and later, Giovanni Antonio Fasolo, Sigismondo de Stefani, and Anselmo Canneri.
