Hans Raphon, c. (1460 -1512)
• Was a German painter.
• His most important work, a Passion Altar with 41 panels, was begun in 1499 on behalf of the Pauline Church in Göttingen and brought to walkenried Abbey during the Reformation.
• It is now in the National Gallery in Prague.
• Other works include the Crucifixion Altar in the Halberstadt Cathedral Treasury, 1508, and the winged altar in the choir of St. Marien zu Heiligenstadt (Eichsfeld), 1512.
• A winged altar for the collegiate church of St. Alexandri zu Einbeck is now in the Landesmuseum Hannover.
• Raphon was dean of St. Alexandri Abbey in Einbeckfrom 1502 to 1508.
• Raphon died in Northeim.
