Václav Vavřinec Reiner (1689–1743)

• Was a Czech painter.
• Václav was baptized in the church of St. Havel.
• As the grandson of a builder and the son of sculptor Jan Reiner, Václav had ideal prerequisites for a successful artistic career.
• In addition to landscapes, battle paintings and portraits, he created extraordinary frescoes.
• He was influenced by the work of Michal Václav Halbax, Petr Brandl and Jan Kryštof Liška.
• Reiner's frescoes influenced the entire following generation of Czech fresco painters (Ignác Raab, Jan Petr Molitor, Jan Lukáš Kracker, Josef Kramolín, etc.). 
• Among his most famous frescoes are the massive Gigantomachy above the staircase of the Černín Palace and the fresco of the Last Judgment in the dome of the Church of St. Francis of Assisi on Křížovnické náměstí in Prague.
• Václav Vavřinec Reiner is buried in the church of St. Giljí in the Old Town in Prague.
