Sigmund Holbein, c. (1470-1540)
• Was a German painter.
• He was the younger brother of Hans Holbein the Elder.
• He worked in the brothers workshop until about 1517.
• He is believed to be the so-called "master of the (Nuremberg) Apostle Mysteries", the creator of an altar from the Holbein workshop.
• Most of the altar was lost during the Second World War.
• After the departure of his older brother from Augsburg, he continued his workshop.
