Johann Georg Trautmann (1713 - 1769)
• Was a German painter and etcher.
• Johann Georg Trautmann native of Zweibrücken.
• He completed his apprenticeship with the ducal court painter Ferdinand Bellon.
• By 1740, Trautmann went to Frankfurt and came first in the workshop of the facade painter Hugo Schlegel, later in that of tapestry painter Gabriel Kiesewetter.
• In July 1740 Trautmann received Frankfurt citizenship, and a month later he married Magdalena Ursula Kiesewetter, the daughter of his master.
• The couple had eight children.
• His earliest known painting dates to 1751.
• He created religious history paintings according to the Old and New Testaments, character studies and heads in the manner of the Dutch 'tronies'.
• Around 200 autograph paintings have survived, in addition to about 160 works known only from sources, as well as 35 drawings and three prints.
