• Was a French painter and draughtsman.
• Baptized in Paris, parish of Saint-Paul on June 27, 1638 and died in 1701, aged 67.
• Youngest son of Claude Vignon.
• He will grow up in a large family established rue Saint-Antoine and will be introduced from an early age to painting, working with his brothers and sisters in his father's studio.
• His mother died in 1643. while he has not yet reached the age of five.
• Widower with a dozen children, his father married in 1644.
• In an act dating from 1671, Philippe Vignon is described as "painter to the King of Great Britain"2 (Charles II).
• On February 23, 1686, the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture commissioned him as reception works within it the portraits of Messrs. Philippe de Buyster, and Henri Mauperché.
